I present to you, an ordinary day in the lives of our heroes.

When it happened, it was such a small moment that he almost missed it. There weren’t any fireworks; no swelling of orchestral music and a bright beam of sunlight didn’t splinter through the stained glass windows to illuminate anything. Instead, John tripped over his own feet and nearly knocked over a stack of recently cataloged Ancient devices.

“Oh for God’s sake!” Rodney yelled catching the tilting tower of technology while simultaneously flapping his hand at John. “Go lean on something that’ll only get you killed instead of the entire city.”

John beat a hasty retreat out of the lab and didn’t slow down until he hit the well used hallways of Atlantis proper. It was about lunchtime anyway, so he slipped into the cafeteria, got a sandwich and slumped into a seat across from Ronon. He kept his shoulders hunched and eyes on the table as he munched through his turkey and wheatberry.

“Hey,” Ronon greeted him, not looking up from where he was drowning his french-fries in ketchup and mayonnaise.

“I think I might be in love with Rodney,” John said quickly, buckling under the pressure of Ronon’s third degree. He winced, waiting for the inevitable bellyful of laughter to hit him.

Fortunately, or not, that was when Rodney power walked into the mess with Radek close on his heels and cursing loudly in Czech. Both men’s hair was standing up straight from their heads and Radek was still smoking faintly. Also, Rodney had a third arm growing out of his right side, but that was hardly noticeable.

Ronon turned back from the sight, slurping noisily from his carton of chocolate milk and raised his eyebrow. “Congratulations,” he said before stuffing a boiled egg in his mouth.

“Thanks,” John replied faintly wondering if there was a better chance of the ground opening up to swallow him in Atlantis than back on Earth. Then he wondered what it would be like to sleep with a guy with three arms. He sighed, shifting over when Rodney shoved his way into their side of the table with his third arm already grabbing a handful of chips from John’s plate. Love was a very complicated thing.
